Re: Semaphore signalling help
Here's another vote for making sure this book is in your library: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91TzeAwG4mL._SL1500_.jpg Haven't made any further progress with the signalling planning since my last post but I have been able to get hold of a 2nd hand copy of that book earlier today for a coupl...

Re: Semaphore signalling help
I've had a crack at figuring out the signals + positions on the layout and came up with this design. Have based it on all of your suggestions along with how we've got the signals arranged at Kidderminster. Apologies for the handwriting but hopefully you should be able to get the gist of it. https://...

Re: Stourford
Mini update as I haven't done anything major to the layout other than sorting out the wiring and ballasting the trackwork as I've been busy with work and Uni. Have done some work to the station board with the goods yard now being covered with cobblestone sheeting and the platforms built up ready for...

Re: Alex's Workbench
Micro update as I've been very busy with my degree, work and my layout so haven't made much progress. Have however been buying bits and pieces from Fleabay and Exhibitions so these are all contributing to my projects. On a whim, I have purchased an angled gearbox+motor assembly which is small enough...

Re: Lima GWR 4575
That's a superb job. It's nice to see an oldie given a new lease of life. I used to have one and have often thought about picking up another. I seem to recall that the centre wheels don't have pickups? My Lima Class 09 was the same, but I have added pickups and managed to slightly spring the centre...

Re: Lima GWR 4575
Handrail knobs and rails have now been fully fitted to the cabsides after recently ordering them. After going through my box of kits and bits I have annoyingly found the packet of remaining handrail knobs I had ordered before but at least now I've got plenty for future projects. https://i.ibb.co/7J7...

Re: Stourford
Wow AJFE a lot of hard work has gone into this so far. I've just read through the whole thread. There is a lot I don't understand but I can see a lot of time and effort has been put into this. You've been building railway sets for a long time by the looks of it? Janine I've had a few layouts when I...

Re: Lima GWR 4575
Long overdue update due to other projects on the go, faffing around with Uni and cracking on with my job. I've done some more detailing work on the Prairie to get rid of the old and damaged moldings and to add in where bits were never put in on the original model. Handrails have been fitted to the c...

Re: Stourford
Since my last post I have continued with wiring up the yet to be installed point motors and the accessory switches to go with them, just need to order some multicore cabling and suitable plugs and sockets for them all to save having a multitude of leads going between the boards and control panel. Di...

Semaphore signalling help
I'm in the process of sorting out multicored cabling for the electronics on my layout and I have been looking at incorporating working signals that are servo controlled. I've been trying to plan the signalling on my layout to work out the additional cabling I'll need for it and have been struggling ...

Re: Millers Brook - O gauge end to end
Looks like a nice little fun layout to work with. Have you got room for a fiddle yard or are you just keeping it as it is?

Re: Stourford
Got a bit more work done on the control panel this week and still plenty to do on it. https://i.ibb.co/Q893jqV/20240608-213229.jpg Gave the panel a few coats of white (same stuff I use to do skirting boards) and redrew the track diagram with sharpie. I'd imagine there are a tonne of different ways t...

Re: Stourford
Haven't done anything else to the layout but have made a start on the control panel. Was thinking a lot on how best to do it as I wanted one panel to control all 3 main boards with regards to locomotive power, point motors, signalling, lighting, turntable and the coaling stage automaton. Also wanted...

Re: Stourford
Looks like a fun layout, and the track plan with the decent sized MPD becomes a perfect way to display and collect stock. nicely done too. what sort of gradient have you got up to the coaling stage & how high is the track through it?? wanting something similar here and wondering on the practica...

Re: Alex's Workbench
Have been very lax in posting updates due to starting a new job as a Mechanical Engineering Technician at my local Heritage Railway earlier this year, concentrating on Uni and also working on my layout "Stourford" but here goes. I have done a fair bit of work on the coaling stage and gotte...
