Re: Edgware GN, Now building a J6 0-6-0

G'Day Gents Rapid progress with the J6, the body is probably 80%, tender about the same. I like to use bits that are laying about, so, I've used the front splashers off of a Wrenn R1 0-6-0 tank, and the middle splashers off of 'Thomas' I've thrown him back in the bits box and shut the lid, as he kee...

G'day Gents

Nice bridge, but the loco caught my attention, it looks so right, cramped, grubby and unkempt, just like the real thing :D

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a Atlantic C2.

G'Day Gents

yep, the cab is one piece, scored and bent, but not broken then 5 bits of plastic square rod, is glued into each corner, this gives it strength, and allows you to file away the edges to get the GN cab shape, cab sides are 30 thou.

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a Atlantic C2.

G'Day Gents Time to start a new loco, this time a J6, 0-6-0, but this time I'm not using a Wrenn chassis, this time I'm using a Hornby 4F tender drive chassis, first thing was to dismantle the 'loco' chassis, you don't have to touch the tender drive, the wheel spacing aren't to bad but the J6 is not...

G'Day Gents

Bits ordered for the J6, so before Christmas............
Actually, I've already started the J6, as I'm using the boiler from when I made the G1, I have a J6 dome and chimney.

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a Atlantic C2.

G'Day Gents

Thank you Matt, this one is so much fun.

I've made the other two splashers and fitted them, filled in under the firebox, made the safety valves and filled in a lot of small gaps in the body work.
This is the other side of the loco.

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a Atlantic C2.

G'day Gents

Made a couple of splashers yesterday, and fitted them, also a chimney and curtsy of 'Thomas' the back head in the cab, in the process of building two more splashers and the safety valves.

Re: Edgware GN, Now building a Atlantic C2.

G'Day Gents Thank you coops. Now to help anyone who wants to have a go at scratch building, a few hints, the wobbly running board of the C2, is a tad harder than a nice easy straight running-board of say a J3, now to make it a whole lot easier, you make a double height running board, providing you k...

Re: Edgware GN, A tale of 2 loco's.

G'day Gents

A quick update on the C2, I seem to have a bit of time on my hands at the moment, so I'm getting stuck in....

Cab almost finished, smokebox is getting there, and dome fitted, splasher's are the next job.

Re: Edgware GN, A tale of 2 loco's.

G'Day Gents I'stopped work on the C2, so I can build a better on, I'll use the old chassis for a D2, this time I'm using a Hornby King Arthur chassis which I had laying around, I removed the motor and rear wheels, and remaking what I had built for the original C2, I'm now back to where I was. Enjoy....

Re: Edgware GN, A tale of 2 loco's.

G'Day Gents The J3 has now had a couple of coats of 'Black' and now has the correct tender, I've run out of numbers so you'll have to wait until I can hold of some new ones. Another loco has been started a C2 Atlantic, the chassis is from a Hornby '4-4-0 County and will have a powered tender. manna
