Re: Edgware GN, New loco, C1, 4-4-2

G'Day Gents

Progress on the C1, cabs been finished, boiler lowered (maybe a bit to much 1mm) cylinders built up a bit more, and again a bit to much. Still in bits, but slowly approaching the point where everything can be assembled.

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, C1, 4-4-2

G'Day Gents

Only a small update, the cylinders have be enlarged (roughly) and the runningplate cut back, at the moment I'm lowering the boiler onto the runningplate. So only one pic.

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, C1, 4-4-2

That B8 is a handsome looking brute in Robinson's style. The GN atlantic is an awkward subject on which to achieve a reliable running result - I had a go with a K's kit long ago - and there's a lot of wheels to fit underneath. Better choice in more compact yet powerful motors and gear train configu...

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'Day Gents Still pottering with the B8, changed the front bogie as it was to short. And restarted an old project, a C1 Atlantic, No 3279, so far I have fitted the valvegear, the valvegear is from a Hornby Fowler 2-6-4 tank, rear pony wheel and made up the front bogie, some bodywork has been made bu...

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'Day Gents

Small update. Most of the motor gubbins have been transferred to the blank R1 chassis (not running yet), a coat of black satin paint has been applied, as I've run out of black matt, and with lockdown, I can't get any more for the moment, couple of pic of progress.

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'day Gents 2 posts on one day, that's rare Had a couple hours to-day, so it was over the shed, bit more rubbing down and the cab side openings cut out, followed by a coat of grey paint, should see any defects, also the middle driving wheel has been removed, pending gear wheel a center driver being ...

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'Day Ex-Pat

The normal filler is white, but I bought a bottle of 'Red' Hardener, which gives that lovely Pink hue ! but I find it useful as it shows up better on all the white plastic card and white boilers.

Going to be a nameless forgotten one 5280. In lined black.

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'Day Gents

Time for another update, methinks ! This build is whizzing along, most of the body is complete, and today I did most of the body filler, still have the other side of the cab to do, Tender chassis is coming along, held together with pegs and a G clamp while the glue dries.

Re: Hawick via Grantham, Inverness and SIAM (00 gauge DC)

G'Day Gents I can totally understand were your coming from, being disgusted with yourself over making something so far out of true, nothing worse than (in my case) making a loco body and then finding it's 2mm to long or short Grrrrrrr, but you have redeemed yourself in finding the mistake and fixing...

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

Which is your favourite conversion so far?[/quote]

G'Day Gents'

Hard question, I think it would be the C2, Atlantic, but the E1, Q1 and the 'half cab' J4, would be very close. The N1, gets a lot of running.

Re: Edgware GN, New loco, B8 4-6-0

G'Day Gents

Most of the parts needed have be made or cleaned up ready for use, the boiler has been glued to the smokebox, next up firebox and cab.
