Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout

G'Day Coops Well you have 'Romford' wheels, that's a help, with a bit of luck, you should have a small screw, holding the gear wheel onto the axle, if that can be loosened and the rear wheels are taken off, you should be able to remove the axle, which again should allow you to remove the motor and g...

Re: Edgware GN,

G'Day Gents

With the good weather at the moment I've dived into the shed to do a bit of scenery, I've had one of those static grass machines for about five years, time to try it out.

Weather is in the mid 20's, so I've been out in the shed. Lot's of plaster has been splashed about along with a fair amount of green paint, a few trees? have been planted just to see the effect, and scouring pads have been cut up and used as hedges, Grass, can't be be to far away.

Amazing what you can achieve, when you put your mind to it. Love the kayakers ?

Almost everything I see, I think to myself what can I use that for, whether it's a shaver box or and old watch.

G'Day Gents

I now I understand, thought it was the center bit, there are lots of stations that don't have a goods yard, so no points, and seeing it's on an embankment, what about a station on stilts (plenty of those about).

Re: Greater Loftchester *opinions please*

G'day Gents That's a hard one, a fairly long thin area, well you could have a, loco shed/mpd, a Freightliner terminal, Docks, complete with a bl00dy big ship, a goods yard/transfer /shipping sheds, 4 bay country station, Branchline Terminus, Suburban terminus, massive scrapyard, Army/Navy/RAF base, c...

Re: Edgware GN,

G'Day Gents Well here's the motor and gears, the top motor is from a Hornby Gresley Pacific/ N2, big is'n't it compared to the motor with the brass gears on the end. That's got to fit in a J6 :D I've also fitted one of those bevel gears to the big black motor and it fits, where as I'll have to drill...

Re: Edgware GN,

G'Day Gents Hi Dad 1. I was trawling E-Bay for motors, when I found them, turns out a friend of mine had also found them, he fitted one in a 4 mm loco, but it was one of those tiny little 0-4-0 contractor loco's, it fitted perfect under the cab. I thought it might also fit in the firebox of a J6 or ...

Re: Edgware GN,

G'Day Gents Hi Ex Pat, Not yet, they are tiny, they are 'bevel gears' got them from China, I bought a couple of geared 12v motors, again from China, that come out of Drones, I thought I'd try one in one of the J6's, the're about the size of a XO4, but only a couple of quid each, I'll put up some pic...

Re: Edgware GN,

G'day Gents Lucky for me the wife is mending, still have the District Nurse coming in twice a week to dress the wife's wounds, so modelling time is increasing. I've been out in the shed while the wife was resting, so the back of Mill Hill has been filled with polystyrene, then covered with plaster a...

G'Day Gents

Used to play 'Laughing Policeman' on my Grandma's record player, but we did'n't need a half crown to play it, but will admit to having to replace the needle now and again, as we slowly wore it out.........
