Re: NRM 2017 00 'Tour' STARTED

When I was working in South Africa the company had it's own small foundry on site, there being no small jobbing ones within 1000 miles. It ran on LPG which was delivered every couple of weeks by rail right up to the side of the foundry, the empty tanker going back at the same time. The loco would ca...

Re: Making a single gate move. HELP!

Would these be the answer to the car lift, use a centre piston type link You probably wouldn't need to cut any tube, just extract the 2 telescoping bits. You'd have enough to make 4 total ***** ups and still get one good one. :) Are Aerials wholly brass or just the end bit. I fixed a folding one on ...

Re: Lumsdonia Website Updates

Can't you do that by using Google search limited to site or desktop, I remember playing with it following some great announcement, or have they quietly dropped it. Creating databases by, effectively, writing your own indexes sounds to me like a really good reason to use someone else's code.

A wonderfully diverse collection of locos there Nickbrad, and some effective simple scenery. Great stuff.

Re: The Liverpool store really needs an appraiser

The business model to their pre-owned sales is based on sales within the UK under our distance selling rules. Spending a lot on appraisal doesn't make sense, the purchasers are the best appraisers, UK delivery charges aren't exorbitant, delivery and return times are short. Most of the time it works,...

Re: W&U Tramway coach, using 3D Printing and the Cameo cutter

Hello Dave, first off it's the DaVinci Mini W, the bright orange one. The W bit is pretty useless, as it looses the settings as soon as it's switched off, so you have to connect it to a PC when you next power it up. The lines of the slices are less noticeable than those in some of your photos, but e...

Re: W&U Tramway coach, using 3D Printing and the Cameo cutter

This is likely to go cold for a bit. I have to do some experimenting to find out; firstly how to draw leaf-springs and their shackles, and then how much detail it's worth including when I've seen the results from the printer. I think I'll be creating them as a component then merging them into the ex...

Malapropism - Hey it's me was supposed to be getting the dictionary for Christmas!
I'm satisfied it was he, and so far no flood of posts either for or against, perhaps a bit of a non story really.

Re: Now who should get one of these for Christmas

Thanks for the spell check Timbersurf, the odd thing is my spell checker doesn't spot it until I type it elsewhere. It's the gremlins, they've been licking the windscreens after I spray them with the stuff that's supposed to stop them icing overnight. Smells like cherry menthol. As for slew I quote ...

I've asked Pennine MC for assurance he has the right guy. Assuming he has, I'll act on the opinions of the majority.

Now who should get one of these for Christmas

At the risk of setting myself up for a slew of dubious, outrageous or just darned expensive presents,
Who should get one of these for Christmas?

for the first gift I propose, one of these.

for E2E
Merry Christmas

Long been DCC and now sound, you'll soon be qualified to join the order of the nerd. Who knows your next layout might even feature the MERG C-Bus.

Re: General Advice About Scratchbuilding.

Picking up E2E's comment about taking a saw to a loco, I think that's exactly what you need to do. Rummage through the trays of hopeless stuff at swapmeets or the second hand stalls at exhibitions and find old Triang or Lima bodies, take a saw to them and change them into something else. Prototype a...
