What no comment from Mountain

Bachmann have announced their NG7 range or 0/16.5 or whatever system of narrow gauge nomenclature you care to use. I'm surprised to not have heard about it from our friend Mountain, perhaps he has yet to recover from the shock of getting trade support from his chosen scale. Truly everything comes to...

Re: r617 uncoupler

What track are you fitting them to? I'd expect the tabs to fit between the sleepers of the current Hornby or Peco set track. They should also fit Peco code 100 flexi track but you may need to slightly adjust the sleeper positioning.

Re: Wobbly wheels on split chasses - solutions?

That assessment is made on the basis of the very good looking Replica B1 with a mechanism based very closely on Mainline's method, which went all to pieces inside four years Indeed many Replica chassies had the legend "Made by Bachman" Stamped into them, or had a blank panel where the Bac...

Re: Birmingham New Street and Brettell Road in P4

It came in brown livery and with a certificate saying it was a limited edition number 061 of 500. If this sort of thing matters to you and you have one you will be pleased to know that your model is now even more limited being 1 of 499 (You're welcome!). :D My own sentiments entirely, Unless the ma...

Re: Best layout room lighting colour

As for daylight fluorescent tubes I thought they had gone the way of the candescent bulbs. That will be the problem when these need replacing. When I first bought them they were only available mail order in packs of six. I put the second three in about four years ago. Who knows these may see me out...

Re: Best layout room lighting colour

That's why I use them - standard flourescents and incandescents make colour matching a nightmare. Some layouts at shows have odd coloured grass and various rolling stock liveries that are definitely "off" because they were built and maintained in a clubroom lit by standard flourescents. Th...

Re: Best layout room lighting colour

Mine is still lit by 3 x. 5ft florescent daylight white tubes as used in design studios for correct colouring. When they need replacing I'll have to investigate LED equivalents.

Araldite two part may be a bit more expensive than others, but if you use it as instructed, (and do the cleaning properly) it works!

I'd be telling the curious that the Engineer's dept. got a discount on food supply for their crews by trading the suppliers advertising in exchange.

Re: Lurker, but with a username

If you do find that the armature of the Ringfield motor is faulty, take a look at the kits for conversion to a "CD tray drive motor" It's a relatively simple swap and there's no end of YouTube videos showing what to do. If you've pushed a CD draw back in when it wants to come out you'll kn...

Re: We Could Have Told Them This Will Happen!

The "Engineer" (driver) is probably that far away he can't see what's happening, and with two or three locos working together he's not very likely to feel it either. Propelling very long trains can be very dodgy. Good practise says that the train should be put in a loop except for the last...

Re: Peco 3 way point.

Many of the layouts I've seen which are DCC controlled still used wired switches to operate point motors. Apart from the builders personal preference the reason quoted is convenience. Unless your DCC is capable of setting up route switching, ie one command setting all the points for a route they hav...

Agreed, but if you are using DCC why do you need the switches?
