Re: A small layout - OCT-DEC 2015 competition entry

how about adding a backbone of some sort. With model plane wings leaving them in the bathroom while i had a shower then putting weight on sorts out the warp. A couple of bits of thin plywood or even balsa glued along the sides should help stop any warp returning. No harm in going composite.

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

Been busy on this, thanks to the dark cold nights. First ive been landscaping the works end. http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u323/leighhodson/ngauge/DSC_0233.jpg Setting the tracks in with sand and filler to create that really worn in/out appearance. http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u323/leighh...

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

Made a small change to the layout. Should improve operations and make things a bit more intresting. Ive been playing around with the Urban end of the layout. Whilst placing houses and bits here n there I realized i had broken one rule i wanted to stick to with the layout, "no straight lines&quo...

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

Thanks peter.

I would have used some pcb board but after i ciut the foam out simple screws seemed easier as the height is easy to adjust. Lots of ballast and glue will make everything solid.

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

The center join is now all done and running smoothly. Also got all of the apron area done too. It runs smooth. Thinking about moving the loco shed to the center of the layout behind the station so i can have a little more room for urban development stage left. I think moving this will help separate ...

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

Dug this out of storage to play over the winter. First job was to find it a home. So cleared some garage space and thats sorted. Now to rejoin the lines at the split, with allowances for splitting again in future. First off, remove some foam. http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u323/leighhodson/ngaug...

Re: N gauge 50s/60s era

Ballast is woodland scenics extra fine. Its still a bit big for n gauge but its almost coarse sand any smaller and i think the effect of it looking like ballast is lost. It looks all goopey as its soaked in watery pva. Looking much more like ballast now its dry. Colour wise it most definitely wont b...
