Re: sticking trains

Emery paper would only do the same job as the track rubber. You say it's short locos that stick as opposed to long ones. This might mean they're stopping at parts of the layout where there is no power such as the plastic join in a set of points. This is called a frog. Long locos aren't affected by t...

Re: Every class of loco (Apart from the class 50)

Class 37 in BR green/green with yellow warning panel with split headcodes. Also later class 37s in certain liveries such as Network Rail yellow and West Coast Railways maroon.
Also like the class 24 in BR green/green with yellow warning panel.

For steam it has to be the Britannia class and the A4s.

Re: What got you started.

I was born in the era of BR green and the changeover from steam to diesel. Growing up in that time, the trains and railways I saw made an impression on me so, to me, that was the 'golden age' of railways. I also had train sets as a child. Now I aim to recreate the railway era of my childhood through...

Re: Seams Odd

Thanks for the detailing kit info Si. I will probably leave fitting the brake rods but might have a go at the target disks.

The link is interesting also.

Re: Seams Odd

Thanks for you reply Si_Donal. The Bachmann 56xx is a really lovely looking loco - one of the most realistic looking locos I've seen. I'll probably be able to live with the seam but how I wish it wasn't there. Filling it and painting it has crossed my mind but I don't think it would be too easy to d...

Re: Bachmann 56xx Querey

Si_Donal could you read my post here: http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27978 and tell me what you think about the 'seam' on your 56xx loco. My mistake about the dome. It is a different shape to a dome of course but was just confused as it is in the same position as...

Re: Seams Odd

Yes it's on both sides. I thought it might be where two separate parts of the body come apart when the loco is dismantled but it's not as the whole body comes off in one piece. I just thought it looked a bit crudely done and not in keeping with the rest of the loco either in quality of build or whet...

Seams Odd

I recently bought a Bachmann class 56xx loco and I'm quite pleased with it but what I have noticed is that there is an ugly looking seam or groove on the boiler. I say ugly because it doesn't look like a perfectly straight manufactured groove but more as if it were 'carved out' by hand. I thought at...

Or you can go for AnyRail which also includes Peco set track. There is a free version which only lets you use 50 pieces of track or the full version which you have to buy and will let you use unlimited track.

Re: Hattons

I've just received a Bachmann class 56xx loco from Hattons. It was ordered Monday and arrived today (Wednesday) so I'm very satisfied with the speed of service. The loco was securely wrapped as well with thick cardboard around the Bachmann box and brown paper around the cardboard. I can't fault the ...

Bachmann 56xx Querey

I'm looking at the Bachmann 56xx in BR black and I notice that on some websites (Hattons for example) the loco's steam dome is the same colour as the rest of the loco while on other websites (Walton's Models for example) the dome is gold coloured. Personally, I prefer the dome to be black and will p...

Re: Disdance between 2 OO traacks?

The best way to tell is to get two sets of points and place them as shown. This will give the correct distance between two 00 gauge tracks as 67mm from track centre to track centre.
