Did A4 Pacific EVER run without streamlining?

Did these Pacifics ever even move without the front streamling?

I know the side valances were removed for wartime running but is there even a single photo of one moving (itself!) without the front streamlining in place?

Question as a result of idle chatter tha would like to be answered! :D

Re: Lima Deltic twin engine conversion?

Exactly, no fudging required at all. Both motors just need the supplies to the brushes swapping over, four soldered joints to undo and remake, job done. If it is to be DCC'd then it needs to come apart anyway I suggest, as the decoders for each bogie will best be set up with the two bogies running ...

Re: Lima Deltic twin engine conversion?

I did a conversion like this to a Lima Warship and it didn't run backwards! Is it possible that you simply reassembled the bogies the wrong way round? If you intend to convert it to DCC then surely that means you would rewire it in any case? Not exactly a fudge, I'd say. (The rule for DC operation ...

Re: Lima Deltic twin engine conversion?

Some time has passed since completion... So I finished it and (obviously) tested the operation on a live section of track. Here's the motors wired up and ready to go in the chassis: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii194/Gunner_Bill/bimotor.jpg Which then ended up in this: http://i264.photobucket....

Re: The new Hornby Castle - a real disappointment.....

I'm right there with the original poster. I've recently pruchased 2 high end Hornby loco's a 2-6-4 4MT and the "City of Lancaster" Princess Coronation. The 4MT squeaks as it runs and has general derailing problems with the extremely light front truck and the Princess Coronation (apart from...

" After Fosse Park was demolished to make way for a hyper space bypass" - lol best thing for it!

It looks like it's going to be a great new layout.

Re: A Good Samaritan Railway Story from BBC.

Somehow I thought that holding a train for someone is even more of a thing than keeping a plane waiting.

It was a pretty impressive thin to do but now I fear the gaurd wouldn't be able to do that even though it was the right thing to do.

Re: few railway pics

I like the photo's obviously I was just really looking at the railway ones. Something stood out though... The B&W photo's don't look old. I don't know if that was your intention or not but they just look like new phot's made B&W. If you want them to look "old" you need a lower reso...
