Re: Cornish China Clay Works In N Gauge

I may be wrong, but i'd have thought having the points in the loading dock is a bad idea due to, (presumably loading is done in theory by a digger with a large bucket,) any overspill would in theory potentially block the points up. Other than that I think it's a good plan and i only wish you were st...

Re: Depot style track plan

From that second shot, the board appears to be sagging quite a bit, if that's the case I'd support it a bit better before adding anything scenic.

Re: Arpley Street-lineside views of freight trains,pg6

I grew up 5 minutes walk from Whitemoor yard in Cambridgeshire and saw it's use in the 80's as an engine shed, through to it's demise and subsequent closure, then to it's subsequent rejuvenisation with Network Rail. Would make for an awesome model if someone had a spare 60ft or so to play with, (to ...

Re: Cramdin Yard

Dave, this thread is truely inspiring, (I've just spent 3 hrs reading through it all,) for someone who hadn't done any railway modelling for 30 years before this I'm really fired up to have a go myself now. I love that traverser, have you considered making and selling them at all? I'm sure that it c...

Nice warehouse, I love modern image layouts as I'm too young to remember steam days and so can't really associate with the layouts as well.

Re: perprosed layout, any feed back welcome

Looks a good typical compact yard layout, the thing with these is, you could give that track plan to a dozen good modellers with no buildings or anything marked on it and they'd all do something completely different with the scenic aspect so when finished you'd have loads of different dioramas.

Re: My first small layout

To be honest, that was going to be my critism also. It looks like a fine plan which will allow for some great scenery to be done, but I worry about it being a bit lacking operationally and unless you extend it later, I fear you'd end up wanting to tear it up after a few months to build something mor...

Re: RETRO's 'OO' LAYOUT: ELY BRIDGE: DCC 1970s BR

OMG, this is the first time I've seen this thread and I must echo many other people by telling you that this layour is awesome. I can't wait to see the second side completely finished and I won't even guess how much the total cost of the layout has been, (without rolling stock or with).

Re: Mighty's 00 Loft Layout - running in and testing

Wow, what I would do with such a vast amount of space.... Anyway, looking good so far, trying to make a layout that big that can be dismantled one day can't be easy, have you ever thought about putting a little cash aside when possible and buying the house off your parents when they decide they want...

....Im going to model the RHTT for use with DRS37 and 20. Light loco movements on route learning duties is another.... I take it you read and stored the article in Model Rail then, lol. I quite like the idea of modelling that myself, but I'm thinking of being a bit more ambitious by incorporating a...

Re: Points de railing loco one direction.

I've never heard that trains should be run in a clockwise direction before and that is kind of defeated for everyone with end to end layouts, lol. It does seem strange though, have you got another tender engine you could try over the same points?

Re: Storage yards..........

Another idea could be to use Google maps to zoom over real life yards. One such example would be March, Cambs with both Whitemoor to look at and also a second yard to the east of the station. The second yard does require trains to reverse in though, however if this option is taken at least you can s...
