Re: Decoders

The Lenz LE1025 is a very old decoder - last version of the manual is the 4th edition, and that dates from 2006. If the decoder gets hot just by being on the programming track I would suggest it's faulty.

LEDs are designed to flicker. My PC hard drive activity light has been doing it for years!

Re: Hattons Decoders not responding

There's no problem changing CVs on the main even though it's a coach with no motor. I've just been doing just that with a Bachmann 4TC. This has a Lenz Silver 21+ which is Railcom-enabled, and I can both read and write CVs on the main for this unit.

Thanks

PoM means the request goes to all locos on the track, but includes the loco address, so only the loco(s) with that address respond.

Re: Hattons Decoders not responding

I think that once you have set the address in the deocder on the programming track, you can use progamming-on-main to set the other CVs.

Re: Hattons Decoders not responding

Perhaps it's because they do not draw any current. Have you tried placing a loco on the programming track with the coach and setting it up that way? You'd have to re-address the loco aftwards.

Re: Peco Single Slip, 2 point motors needed?

Yes. There are two pairs of blades hence 2 motors required.

Re: Making Peco Points look better!

Indeed and I have done this on my code 75 points in the scenic section. I've completely removed all the locking mechanism, leaving just the tie-bar, and replaced the removed parts with spare sleepers. I'm using Tortoise point motors which do the locking instead. And also made the electrical changes...

Re: Missed this one!

I browsed the auction catalogue and was gobsmacked by the sheer number of locos. Must have been hundreds of Western diesels at least plus loads of others. Problem with an auction like that is there's buyer's premium to pay (here 36%) which will lower the bids, plus you have to pay whatever it costs ...

Re: Hornby magnetic couplers

The coupling bars are shiny on one side and opaque on the other. If you're using stepped couplings on the Bachmann MK1s to bring the height down, then all couplings need to be mounted with the shiny side uppermost. I'd already fitted quite a few before I realized this ... If you try to couple two ve...

Re: Hornby magnetic couplers

I acquired a pair of these when I purchased a Maunsell buffet car. I used them to couple a Hornby class 71 to a Bachmann MK1 set and they worked brilliantly. The one downside is that, being powerful magnets, the force needed to pull the vehicles apart is sometimes greater than that needed to pull th...
