Re: Hattons FAIL
Is not the problem that Hornby have failed to supply Hatton's with the quantity they pre-ordered? In which case what can Hatton's do except cancel the excess that they now cannot fulfil.

Re: Southern loco suggestions needed (again)
I have two if the BR S15s and both work perfectly. I use DCC and the only problem I had with them is that the interference suppressor on the DCC socket was causing my class 71 to sometimes behave erratically. A quick snip on the C1 terminal sorted that. The S15s themselves never had a problem with D...

Re: Southern Railway carriages - which ones? UPDATED!
More to the point though, there's also the matter of the test I've just done which shows that neither of my N15s is entirely happy pulling more than 5 carriages up my curved gradient. That in itself would be a great excuse to buy myself a long-fancied S15, but I've just looked at the prices of 'em ...

Re: LENZ digital set 01, what's it worth
The LZ100 and LV100 are very old - the version 3 manual on the Lenz web-site is dated September 2000. Both were replaced by the combined LZV100 which has itself been replaced by the LZV200. You therefore might struggle with these two. But the LH100 handset and the TR150 power supply have value and i...

Re: Nce power cab booster and circuit breaker breaker
If you are using any form of frog polarity switching, then it's important to also isolate the frog by cutting the link wires from the blades underneath. Otherwise the frog is still receiving power via the blades, and when the DCC80 switches power you can get a DCC short if the blades haven't moved o...

Re: Z21 and Detectors - Question
The software you mention is iTrain rather than iTrack, and I would suggest you would be best joining the iTrain forum and asking this type of question there where there are people familiar with these products. As with Freiwald Traincontroller, which I use, you can configure automation with only a si...

Re: Very odd running behaviour from a new EMU
But don't solder the track joints! In hot weather the rails won't be able to expand, and will instead be prone to buckling. I would suggest adding some more feeds. The problem could be the conductive couplings, and perhaps there's one that's causing a momentary short circuit as the couplings flex ro...

Which Bachmann EMU is it? I have several and not experienced any problem.

Re: Electrifying a hinged section
My Lenz LZV100 command station has a facility to connect up emergency stop switches by wiring them across the E and M terminals. For the lift-up flap I have fitted a push-to-break push-button switch (same type as fitted to fridges to turn the interior light off when you close the door). So lifting t...

Re: DCC Power Drain
Supplying 4A of power to a layout of this size via a single feed is likely to cause serious problems. What you are seeing by "reduced power" is voltage drop at locations furthest from the feed. The risk is that when you get a short at these locations due to voltage drop, the Select does no...
Re: bachmann
I would also recommend you check your DCC wiring is up to managing a 5-amp load. Easy way is to do the coin test - ie use a coin/piece of wire to trigger DCC shorts at various places in the track and make sure the DCC command station trips out immediately. If it doesn't then you may need to beef up ...

The Zimo MX600R would be an ideal replacement for the R8249. I would suggest investing in one and see what difference it makes.

Re: Double Header
If your layout has a double-track section, it can be useful to place the locos side-by-side there so that you can see how they run when in a double header, and make small adjustments to CVs until they are properly speed-matched.

Pretty certain it's just screw-fitted to the front pony truck. You will have to remove the truck to get at the screw to do this.

Re: Birdcage question
If you are using automation, and want to fit resistors for track circuiting, then doing that on these coaches is a doddle.
