Re: Did the Mallard ever tour in the USA?

There's no mention of a USA tour in Mallard's Wikipedia article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Clas ... 68_Mallard

Re: Model Rail magazine - Deal or No Deal? A Warning

Not sure whether you've subscribed to the print or digital version. The latter is £24 a year compared to nearly twice that for printed version. I actually subscribe to Readly - https://gb.readly.com/ This gives access to the digital versions of several thousand magazines and Model Rail is one of the...

Re: Standard 5mt, too slow

I have both 73110 and 73082. The speed problem you have is I'm afraid characteristic of these locos, and is caused by the gearing ratio. I use DCC with Lenz Standard+ decoders, plus I also use automation with Traincontroller. You have to speed profile all locos for TC, and both of these register a s...

Re: Heljan Class 33

I would recommend a decoder with 1A output and also overload protection. I have 3 class 33s and all run perfectly with the Lenz Standard+ decoder which meets both requirements.

Re: Proposed Bulleid 4DD Double Decker EMU from KR models

Remember them well having grown up in SE London in the 50s and early 60s. Travelled on them many times and will definitely be having one or both on my layout! You never knew when waiting for a train to go into London what would turn up, and it was always a pleasant change from the ubiqitous EPBs. I ...

Re: No room for a layout? A Spanish solution

I use MS Edge as my browser. It detects the Spanish and asks me if I would like it translated, which it does very well.

And indeed a very ingenious solution to the lack of space!

The battery lasts a very long time. I recently sold my LZV100 after having owned it for over 14 years and never had to replace the battery.

Re: Wiring a accessory decoder....

The only time I would use accessory decoders would be if I was going to be building a computer controlled layout. For a manually operated layout, conventional point operation with a switch is easier, quicker and rather cheaper. I have a computer-controlled layout with 60+ point motors. A few years ...

Re: Polarity problems

The problem is the two tracks coming in from the helix. If they were normal double-track, then they would be wired (top to bottom) red-black and red-black. But that's not how the OP has wired them: instead they're wired as if they're two sides of a circular layout, ie red-black and black-red. This m...

Re: Polarity problems

Not sure I now understand how you've wired up. Basically all feeds on the plan you've shown us should be wired the same, ie red to the top and black to the bottom, with the exception of the loop B to P. This should be fully isolated with IRJs on both rails and wired to an RLM module. If your entry/e...

Re: Polarity problems

All you need is a reverse loop module (RLM) on the loop between turnouts B and P. Will need IRJs on both rails at each end, and it must be longer than your longest train, which looks like it will be.

Re: Accessory Controller

The output of the GM-1 is only 1A I believe, which won't be enough to power the PL-10 solenoids unless you also use a CDU (capacitor discharge unit). You really need at least 3A output for these motors to ensure reliable operation.

Why not just use their search box for "traction tyres"? Brings up the item PSP-41 that Iron Duke mentioned straight away.
