Re: Boxes - keep or throw away?
As someone who is more of a collector than user of my lovely trains at the moment I like all my stock to be boxed. In fact I bought a box last week for a Bachy 57 and some Mk1 coach boxes a couple of weeks ago. Money well spent to keep them in good condition. Need a couple of boxes for some Bachmann...

Re: VAA/VBA Vans
I've had a good search but don't seem to be any chassis available - I'll keep an eye on ebay I guess. Are the VBB the same chassis? Loads of vans with very similar codes.

VAA/VBA Vans
Anyone know if these share the same chassis & where I can get a couple from? Just purchased nicely weathered body of each type as part of a lot & would like to add them to a short rake of wagons. Thanks in advance.

Re: Servicing an old Lima loco
Well - had a good run out the last few days on the little circuit layout I'm building for my Nephews. Amazing runner now. Gave my Lima 50 the same treatment & it is superb too. Tried a 37 & the results are way different. Runs OK on the curves but judders & stops on straight track. Change...

Alotty -Roundy Roundy for the Nephews.
Started building this on Tuesday for my Nephews who are showing signs of interest in trains. Roundy roundy with passing loops & a station. It will be very basic with plant on buildings etc. I have been running a few of my locos for, ahem, testing purposes! Surprised the 60 handled the tight curv...

Plastic Glue
Another of my brilliant ebay purchases has turned up in a right mess. Currently trying to glue the bogie side frames & couplings back onto a Hornby Class 60. My glue of choice - Revell Contacta is not touching it. Usually takes a minute or so to weld the bits together but is not drying at all. O...

Re: Servicing an old Lima loco
Runs like a sewing machine! Found the fault (user error).Need a decent 8 pin decoder with Back EMF - any ideas anyone? Still need to source some wheels too as running on the old ones at the moment - can't quite bring myself to buy replacement wheels that will cost nearly as much as a railroad chassis.

Re: Servicing an old Lima loco
Thanks everyone for their help. Everything dismantled, cleaned, reassembled & lubricated. Runs very well on DC with power applied directly to the motor - probably smoother than when I bought it used a long while back. I haven't yet purchased the replacement wheels, but thought I would plug the c...

Re: CMX TRACK CLEANER - Anybody got any opinions (Good or Bad)?
Just bought one of these from Ten Commandments at the Chiltern Exhibition at Stevenage. £38. Ran it up & down a short section of track that was rubbed a week ago & it has picked up quite a bit of dirt. Doesn't need any cleaner added - just the friction of the cloth. Comes with enough cloth t...

Re: Servicing an old Lima loco
Thanks for the replies chaps. I took the motor bogie to bits last night - it isn't too dirty for it's age & the brushes aren't that worn either. I skimmed through the youtube videos last night & have ordered some IPA to give it all a thorough clean. Can someone point me in the right directio...
