All my shopping for Brit. outline N-gauge is on the web, as the local South African model shops only carry American stuff. I have found that Hattons, in Liverpool are very helpful, to the extent of sending me a pair of the Dapol Stroudley Terriers, matched for speed. My other site is Osborns, in Dev...

My n-gauge layout has LDR's (light - dependant resistors) as track sensors. The output is fed to a simple transistor switch, which triggers relays, ( I've had it with transistor power switching) The way I use these detectors, is to use the shadow of a passing train to cause a change in the resistanc...

Excellent - as a pensioner, I am greatful for on-line journals, especially as the price of buying magazines in South Africa is horrible !
