Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

The "jinx038" shot of the loco area looks really good - suitably "filfy and derty" (sic). If the rest of the layout is up to this standard when you've finished (if ever) it'll look really realistic. Dennis Looking good with the ground works! Very nice. thanks guys Been a bit of ...

Re: Hornby A4

I'm having a massive blitz on my entire OO fleet & my Dad's going to have all 6 of my preserved A4s(though Bittern/Canada are in green livery & it's my 4498 SNG he's taking North). I'm going to keep a mere handful of OO locos,so only the SNG in BR Ex blue,my Silverlink, the Wartime & a 4...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

Sorry for a lack of updates recently things have been busy. - not done a massive amount on the layout finished the painting of the small engine shed doors blue, may well do the main shed's doors the same colour at some point. - Done a small bit of ballasting of grey with a little mix of black cinder...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

Is that a separate layout that's visible in the background of the first photo? At a first glance it appears to be a different gauge - is it? Or am I just not seeing things right? :? That second photo is great - I look forward to seeing this layout progress. there is a separate layout in the backgro...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

oh how I miss the Christmas holiday from work that meant I must have spent about a week in total out of the two weeks off to do work on the layout. however a few bits have been done since, following the delivery of a few items being delivered: - painted all of the rails sides in black - purchased a ...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

What I like about modelling a preservation scene is, Far more locos than needed; Items from all periods/eras; All sidings and track packed with rolling stock; Unlikely locos pulling short trains; You can run a loco in the livery you prefer (it's your railway after all); It's entirely prototypical t...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

You've still got to decide on a region, which then dictates the majority of stock etc. But preservation layouts are so much easier to justify, and mean 'anything goes is acceptable. I look forward to seeing progress! hopefully this photo might give you an idea of the region http://farm3.staticflick...

Re: Billing East, OO preservation shed

Interesting idea - I like the idea of a preservation themed layout. Do you stick rigorously to running only preserved locomotives? Or do you allow yourself a bit of 'modeler's licence' and run those engines that you wish had been preserved? Interesting water tower in the second photo by the way! :)...

Billing East, OO preservation shed

Thought I should start a thread for the layout I'm building as my return to railway modelling, as always I've chosen to model preservation as the theme depicting an engine shed area. so here is 2 photos to give an overall view of the layout measuring 1ft by just over 8ft http://farm4.staticflickr.co...
