Re: New layout

Thanks for that peter. Great explanation. Is there a particular card that you use? And where do you get it.

Thanks

Re: New layout

Hi

Not sure if you've mentioned this, but, how did you do the concrete hard standing? The constitution and also the weathering. It looks really good.

Thanks

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

I'm not sure there is anything that will be moving cars on a budget. I can only find the starter sets on overseas websites. The uk version of the same site doesn't show magnorail for sale. Anyway, the cost of the road vehicle starter set is €169 which is around £150. This gets you 225cm of track. De...

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

I watched this too. I follow his channel. Looks like a neat system. I had seen the bicycles before but I didn't realise it would run cars too. I already use the Faller system but this could be incorporated elsewhere on the layout for a main road. I have struggled to find where to buy it though. The ...

Re: Who moves what modern wagons?

What i like to do is go on youtube and search for things like 'uk rail freight'. You then you will get a lot of up to date 'trainspotter' videos. I find these interesting to watch anyway, but can also be a good reference to what you are asking. An example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfhPSAqbRUg...

If they are all the same size then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Give it a try

Re: Egg Tray Sandwich

I haven't tried egg boxes myself, but I have used 40mm insulation (celotex, kingspan etc) with ply both sides. Very light and strong

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

I think that is the Faller item in a gaugemaster box. They even elude to it in the text. Price seems about the same as other Faller sets I've seen. Around the £110 mark. Not trying to knock your discovery, I just don't think there is any kind of budget version of the Faller car system. They would pr...

Re: power connector clips

It is a matter of preference, of course. But I solder directly to the underside of the rail before track laying. I seem to be able to get enough heat in to get a good solder joint without melting anything. I have soldered to the side of the rail before without drama as well. Underneath is invisible ...
