Re: Who moves what modern wagons?

What i like to do is go on youtube and search for things like 'uk rail freight'. You then you will get a lot of up to date 'trainspotter' videos. I find these interesting to watch anyway, but can also be a good reference to what you are asking. An example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfhPSAqbRUg...

Re: Egg Tray Sandwich

If they are all the same size then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Give it a try

Re: Egg Tray Sandwich

I haven't tried egg boxes myself, but I have used 40mm insulation (celotex, kingspan etc) with ply both sides. Very light and strong

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

I think that is the Faller item in a gaugemaster box. They even elude to it in the text. Price seems about the same as other Faller sets I've seen. Around the £110 mark. Not trying to knock your discovery, I just don't think there is any kind of budget version of the Faller car system. They would pr...

Re: power connector clips

It is a matter of preference, of course. But I solder directly to the underside of the rail before track laying. I seem to be able to get enough heat in to get a good solder joint without melting anything. I have soldered to the side of the rail before without drama as well. Underneath is invisible ...

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

Just to throw something else into the mix... Faller make a chassis kit. You assemble it but then you can set the wheelbase and cut the chassis rail to suit. Looks like a good system and at least half of the price of a completed vehicle. You could convert almost anything https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fa...

Re: Questions about the Faller road system etc.

Hi, I managed to get a job-lot of Faller stuff which included 5 or 6 rolls of guide wire, so havent looked at alternatives. My roads (from memory) are about 100mm wide in total (two way traffic). The magnets follow the guide wire very well and do not deviate easily. For example, you can cross the wi...

Re: converting leds from 3v to 12v

It doesn't matter which way round the resistor goes or on which leg of the led.

The led will only work one way. So connect it and if it doesn't work, swap the wires.

Re: power connector clips

Hi Clive, You could either solder the wires straight to the side (or underneath) of the rails. You could buy another controller as they are quite cheap (if it's not worth messing around with your current one). As to your original question, I can't help sorry. Don't know what they are called. Thanks ...
