Another way you could do it is to remove the smokebox door with a screwdriver attach a piece of plasticard to form the joins between smokebox and splashers then buy the door from 5 & 9 models :D

Mornings work on the ballast. BAy platform pretty much done just some glue to finish.

Bit of a tip until I lay the grass.

Many available mate just search in google there he are a few good videos on youtube too. I'd keep to only 4ft. for the platform.
