I have a special "Wife pass" to create a small oval on the coffee table with a "Harry potter Christmas scene" lots of snow of course.... thinking of making a base board, painting it white, laying the track, ballasting it then..... what? what's the best way to "winterise"...

Re: poorly malard....

i tried the faulty front end with a working tender and it had the same fault.

it does it where it likes on the track, definitely not track work as everything else goes great guns.

Re: poorly malard....

Update, shells removed, the problem is with the front end of the loco not the motor end, I can run the tender for ever with another loco but if I run the front end with another motorised tender it cuts out the same, does this sound like an intermittent fault with the power pick up somewhere in the f...

Re: poorly malard....

good ole dc hornby controller, like i said everything runs fine, Duchess of Norfolk happily runs for 30 minutes with 6 carriages at about 50% speed, Mallard runs empty and dies with no cariages after 10 meters tops at any speed.

will take the shell off and run it and see whats what.

thanks guys.

poorly malard....

my A4 is playing up, its a model that is approx 5 years old, when i run it she will do about 2 circuits - total of about 10 meters before slowly grinding to a halt. if i give it 5 mins it will run another 10m then slowly die. all other locos run fine .

Re: tornado derailing

Got myself tornado in BR express passenger blue, however there are a couple of points on the track where the front bogey comes off. I have a few duchesses, a king, an 4 all ranging from 5 - 15 years old and they go around at full tilt no problem, it just seems to be the A1 that's a problem, it is h...

Re: tornado derailing

It doesn't take much for one loco to find a problem on a layout where others don't. First question is always the same: can you see where the derailments occur and what actually happens? That's really the place to start. Don't start randomly altering anything on the loco or layout until you are clea...

Re: Georges Railway

Here is where we are at now, 2 ovals and the siding points fitted, Going to have to have a re think with the point on the outer curve (nearest the camera) as for some reason it derails quite a lot! a bit of fettling to be done before I do the cuts in the track for the fold down.
