Great pic Dave from a great layout. I think the 70's will gradually grow on people. I imagine its a good powerful and good running model. Probably pull just about everything you could hang on it.

As dad1 says, cleanliness and as much weight as you can get in the shell. I have a wee Hornby 0-4-0 that runs quite slow. My last parcel from them was a recycled Wotsits box,brown paper but no string this time

Unless its different to mine the J39 is split chassis. When you say the controller shows a short I am assuming its DCC and that the loco has a decoder installed. Did you install the decoder? or was the loco chipped when you bought it? The motor connections inside the split chassis MUST be insulated ...
