Bennerley Jct. is a short cycle ride up the Erewash Canal; I often used to sit on the viaduct embankments and watch the trains go by.

I used to live about 10 minutes walk away in Cotmanhay, now I live just down the road from you in Sandiacre :)

Re: Bennerley Junction - 1980 - 1992 N Gauge

Well guys' sorry for the long hiatus, I have been working on the layout, but real life gets in the way. Anyway, here's what I've been up to these last months: First off, almost finished my Fleetline breakdown crane (had it ages an progress has been slow). All I need now are some breakdown coaches (w...

Re: My first journey on... a Voyager

Mmm, not so sure about BR being over cautious, most of the early BR DMUs I used to travel on were hideously under powered, especially when going up Old Hill bank! I was talking to a fitter recently who was telling me about the FGW 165s and their new aircon units which take so much power its reduced...

Re: My first journey on... a Voyager

They have designs for a "pantograph" coach which will be inserted into a Voyager and will have a pantograph on the roof, Is there a traction supply bus on Voyagers No there isn't, though all the motors run on (I believe) 650 or 750v DC and it's already been investigated and the design fin...

Re: Dapol 2012 - 2013 catalogue

just been looking at pricing on a well known shop. looks like DCC fitted is a rather agreeable £12 extra. Given that the cheapest chip I know of is about that price, seems a fair price. Admittedly, I don't know how good the chip is, but you would think it would be half decent. Hopefully you wont ha...

Agreed, the 26 is excellent so the 33 should be also.

Some great stuff in there, but I really wish Dapol would deliver on their previous announcements, otherwise its just meaningless words!

I've been waiting for the 56 and the 142 models for years now - hurry up Dapol!!!

Re: Penzance themed modular layout in N gauge

Not my era but this layout is gorgeous. The stock, the sceneery and the buildings, everything just feels 'right'.

Love the Mercig Warship, I have a Mercig Class 46 in RTC livery you can see in my layout thread!

Will be keeping an eye on this beauty.

Re: Bennerley Junction - 1980 - 1992 N Gauge

More work has been carried out both on and off the layout, it's not very noticeable though, but I find its the little things that make a layout. AWS ramps added to up slow and fast lines. They required some filing to fit in code 55 track with catching on the Farish 37 and 47 underframes, both manage...

Re: Hood-dale Main - V2 now started properly..

Did you make them from scratch mate? I'm thinking of getting some sort of shelving for my railway room, at the moment I have a desktop full of locos and stock and I'm worried somethings gonna happen!! Putting stuff back into boxes and taking it out everytime I want to play trains got very boring whe...

This is great, wish I had such a super storage area under my layout like you do!

I agree re: the new bachmann buildings, they are the business.

Re: Bennerley Junction - 1980 - 1992 N Gauge

Thanks Jas, I work on real trains for a living, but I don't rivet count, as long as it 'feels right' and I have fun, thats enough for me.

One day I'll get some crazy fantasty liveries/logos on the layout, that'll get the rivet counters frothing!

Re: Bennerley Junction - 1980 - 1992 N Gauge

Well the out of region interloper I talked about has arrived, a Dapol Class 26 in Coal Sector. Okay they lived in Scotland and my layout is the Erewash Valley Line, but it's may railway so I'll run what I want! Actually, it looks rather good, here are some pictures of it hauling a short departmental...
