Re: Olympic Tour 2011-12 ('00' Tour No.4)

Olivia and co have arrived in Belfast and are looking forward to the winds dying down. My OO is in the garden and the trucks dont want to stay on the rails. If all else fails this weekend could see me having to build a windbreak! :!:

Re: Weighting really light stock

I started to use old button batteries in my n gauge stock but when my box of "dead" batteries started exploding I soon took them out again. I was thinking about using lead weights from the local fishing tackle shop. Would these pose any problems?

Re: Fleischmann track

Thanks guys. Guess I'll be looking for fleischmann joiners then. Don't know if it's N or HO but the bottom edge of the rail is a good bit wider than my usual Peco track. Will try and post a picture of my "inheritance" because I think they are all continental and I havn't got a clue. I do b...

Fleischmann track

My brother, having spent a fortune on track, engines, airbrush etc, decided not to bother with his new hobby and has passed it on to me. The track is Fleischmann sat on plastic ballast (bit like kato track) but I have found my usual peco/unknown rail joiners will not fit. Is this a gauge problem or ...

Re: Olympic Tour 2011-12 ('00' Tour No.4)

Can you include me in the tour please? If I can receive it in 2012 Might be able to tie it up with the Titanic celebrations due here in Belfast.

Flowersoft from cardmaking/scrapbooking outlets also makes very effective beds, borders and hanging baskets.

Re: Blown CDU

Thanks for your replies guys. The CDU is by Ontrack and there is a permanent red led to show when it is wired correctly. Until yesterday this was working but now nada/zilch/zippo. It is still connected to my HM2000 and the tracks are still powered, just no points moving. I think I might have to back...

Blown CDU

I wired up the final sets of points on my layout yesterday and all were working fine with unsoldered connections. Once I had checked the operation I soldered everything up and everything worked. Went to run a loco round the track and none of the points worked. I've looked under the baseboard and the...

Re: Garden Railway Basic Techniques

Have managed to get the first loop out and had a 7 coach inter-city running round it. My wife thinks I'm mad but she got a 16 x 8 decking and a small pool out of the deal. I've had no problems with power but found the rails have to be cleaned before running even when it is used day after day. As you...

Re: Garden Railway Basic Techniques

Are there any major drawbacks to soldering outside? I thought that on anything but a bright sunny day I might have trouble keeping the tip of the iron hot enough. also if I am going to solder wire across the track joins will I need to run additional feeds to the track. My track plan involves two 24f...

Re: My first layout

Wish my loft area was that tidy. Do you have the headroom to stand in there or do you have to operate from the hatchway?
