Phil's Model Railway
(Updated 16th November 2005)
Phil's is building his layout in the attic. He has constructed his baseboard
which is 12 x 4 feet and a metre high. For his track layout he has decided on a
modified version of Peco track plan 4. It will be elongated and in filled with a
goods yard. There will also be a passing loop on the bottom section of the
layout. It is to be constructed using mainly Peco flexi track.
Phil has started to set out his track positioning
his main ovals first. He plans to build it from there.
Phil's layout as of the 6th of October.

Update 22nd October 2005

Update 16th November 2005
Below is the latest design of my layout, I'm
sure it will basically follow this design....Famous last words! I've still
got about eight lengths of flexi track to use and also a couple of right hand
turnout points. I'm not so sure about the position of the turntable as I
can't shunt carriages on to the sidings unless I do it individually. Ideas
on a postcard please. The right hand outside track will be elevated on
plywood, not using those risers now they look bad. The near outside radius will
have a tunnel, with the track going into it level and coming out higher.
It obviously won't have a crossover where it is now. The inner loop on the right
side will have a station of sorts, not sure whether a city or rural setting.
The bottom of the layout will concentrate on shunting and have a rod and a yard
coming off the level crossing.
