R2987X

Production Details:
The Brighton Belle was a named train which operated between
London Victoria and Brighton and was the first electric all
Pullman service in the World. The service commenced in June
1934 and continued until withdrawal in April 1972, however
the service was suspended during the Second World War. There
were three 5 car units designated 5BEL which were specially
built for the service and were able to travel in 60 minutes
the 51 miles between London and Brighton without stopping.
Recently under the patronage of The Transport Trust a group
was formed to restore a 5BEL unit into a fully working and
operating train. Their goal is to have the train ready and
in service by the London 2012 Olympics, a goal which is well
within their grasp. The stunningly elegant Hornby model
initially produced in two distinctive livery periods
captures perfectly the opulence and style of the Brighton

The Royal Mail Great British Railways Collection
|
When railway tracks
were first laid in Great Britain and trains began operating to a
timetable the Royal Mail were one of the first to take advantage of
this new mode of transport, using the trains to pick up and deliver
post to all areas of the country, it is therefore fitting that the
Royal Mail have produced a series of stamps celebrating some of the
famous classes of steam locomotives that have operated on the
British Isles.
In conjunction with the Royal Mail, Hornby have produced a series of
Limited Edition models to coincide with the individual subjects of
the stamps. Included in each of the specially produced presentation
packs will be not only the relevant model but also a special Royal
Mail cover envelope complete with stamp, the subject matter of which
corresponds with the model. Each pack will also include a limited
edition certificate. Limited to just 1200 pieces these exclusive
models are sure to become a sort after collector’s item.
