Model Railway Scenery Review -
Irregular Tarpaulined Shapes
Hornby Skaledale Goods Shed - R8635
Rating 8/10

Hornby picture is missing drain pipes and doors. The roof is also
darker.
This Hornby goods shed is designed to allow a single track to be
laid inside to allow goods wagons to be hauled inside.
This model has some good detailing with the usual mix if detail
and weathered effect. The model features guttering and three
drainpipes which arch out from the brick work to meet the
guttering, a functional sliding door (2 doors fits into a grove
inside), 2 small glazed windows, a chimney breast, and a small
porch over the sliding doors. The model has sandstone walls
outside and one wall inside. If you plan to place this model in
any other way than having the doors facing towards be aware you
will be able to see the un-detailed walls. This is not
necessarily un-prototypical as the walls could be said to look
rendered (covered/smoothed out with cement). The roof is covered
with slate with a black ridge tile. Both the wagon and people
entrances have shallow arches over them and the windows have
window ledges. There are also the ends of the roof beams showing
on the gable ends.
The internal dimensions are 20cm long, 8.3 wide and
8.5-6.5 high (8.5 in the middle) The entrance is 6 - 5.6cm
height and 4.6 wide.
The look of this model matches well with:
R8629 Station building
R8630 Toilet block
R8631 Station Extension
R8633 Covered Coal Shed
R8636 Engine shed
R8637 Stone Double Engine Shed
R8639 Water Tower
Overall this model looks realistic with only minor visual or
functional limitations. If you are looking for this kind of
goods shed I have no good reason not to recommend this model.
