Model Railway Scenery Review - Hornby Cable Drums

Review: The Hornby Skaledale Cable Drums comes with two cable drums and three wooden blocks which are used to hold the cable drums in place. The picture above shows them on an concrete block (not included).

I was very impressed with the detailing on both the cable drums and the wooden blocks supplied in this pack. The wooden blocks appear to be made from poly resin, which makes them feel very light. All the blocks look very realistic, and I especially like the middle wooden blocks as not all the wooden beams lined up. The decoration of the wooden blocks makes them appear slightly weathered.

The cable drums are also very detailed. The wood is stained dark brown, with black spots to show they are weathered. Both drums are weighted to ensure they fit and stay within the wooden blocks supplied. I feel that this particular Skaledale scenery load would look good on any layout or on any flat bed wagon.
