Model Railway Hornby Locomotive Reviews - Thomas and Annie and Clarabel

Worth Buying - This is an average model. The model has limitations and does not have a full range of mechanical or detailing features. For a railway model to be rated as "Worth Buying" a model must score between 4 and 7. Hornby Thomas & Friends – Thomas, Annie & Clarabel (R9087) Rating 6/10

Thomas (The little blue engine) looks like a nice little steam engine. Detailing is poor but effective for this model. The lack of detail gives the model increased durability which is important when being used by children. Thomas's face looks happy and cheerful which cannot be said for Annie being pulled along behind Thomas. Annie’s face looks scared by the speed Thomas is going. Both Annie and Clarabel are very light carriages compared to the weight of Thomas.

Hornbys Thomas is built on the old class 08 shunters chassis which has been improved over the years. This gives Thomas very good pulling power and slow speed control but it is susceptible to stalling on points. This models top speed is not as fast as Percy but is still respectable.
