Nice one, me too! Great stuff and also how did you remove the body on your HST? Mine will need removing in a few moths for DCC lights is all.

Good stuff! Removing the HST body is easy when you get the hang of it. Electricnose (link) has some good photos to give you an idea. My personal method is to pull the black chassis down and let the two central body clips come free... Then, while holding the loco so that it doesnt just ping back in place, I pull down on the centre of the black chassis... it bends quite nicely, with the result that the back pops out... And then it's just a matter of slipping the nose out.

Just a quick update: been busy plasterboarding the inside ceiling of the railway room... aka garage... and adding extra lighting... so no progress on the tracks. though i got a load of spares through the post so have been doing a bit of work on the locos.

Have almost finished sorting out the ceiling (need to put in the last section of plasterboard and then all done)... and things. Been busy sealing holes/cracks where any little beasties might enter and ultimately end up on the railway!! Also been working to better seal the doors and ultimately keep out the damp! Should, hopefully, be back railway building by Wednesday if all goes well.

Finished some more work today, and also got my Bachmann 166 3-car dmu through the post today. Sadly it came in the wrong livery (Thames Trains rather than FGW Link) but got a few photos and videos of it stretching its legs around the layout... Have to say, I'm very pleased with the loco. Was pleased to see that each car has its own pickups... This should easily allow the installation of extra coach lighting. I intend to replace the yellow LEDs with bright white ones as the yellow just doesn't really look very good! What else... Ummm... That's it really!

Well... I don't know about smooth, but to avoid tripping up I made damn sure there was nothing in the way of my path!!! Hopefully have some more photos and videos of the completed track shortly.... should give an idea of what is left to do... i.e. a LOT lol.

Am looking forward to the ballasting (I know, I probably shouldn't be, but I've never done it before, so it's all good!) and the landscaping... Not to mention the signalling, the wiring... and, STILL, I have to decide which DCC system to go with ARGHHHHH

I don't know whether to go Lenz, Lenz, Lenz for it all... or just plump for a cheap Hornby DCC controller... Hmmm.... Oh, the dilemmas of a railway modeller!!!!

Thanks. I'm using the Peco ST290 and ST296 Brick Platforms... They are pretty good - for the ends of platforms and for the straight bits. In terms of the curvy sections I'm currently undecided between going for the matching Peco Brick Platform Edging LK60 (topped with my attempt at cardboard tarmac) or whether to just do the entire curvy bits in card... Will probably end up buying a couple of LK60 units and seeing how they handle.

By the way, shop around as Hattons aren't the cheapest for these bits - but have put links to them as they have good photos of the products.
