I like her; weren't they originally in blue lined and red lined, or am I thinking of the coronation class? :?

I chased Duchess around on saturday up Shap & down the S&C, i also followed her earlier this year on the north Wales coastline & that wartime black with maroon lining on the footplate is awsome i really like that livery although Br brunswick green would just do it for me :D

She looks stunning in wartime black: she needed a freshen-up for the remainder of her mainline certificate and opting for black was a shrewd move by the owners. The heavy overcast this morning did not make for ideal photography, but here are some more.

A man evidently content in his work - and the excellent paintwork in detail.

I personally prefer the train, my choice would be the train on the right rather than the person on the left (and I am equally glad you didn't say the person on the right!)

Since 6115 Scots Guardsman went into BR green it is good to see LMS black on another express passenger loco.

:D Just to add to this thread .... I was fortunate enough to visit the Midland Rail Centre [in April 2010] just as she was being finished off with the Black livery.
Here she is ....

....and a few days later, she came past my local line.

Gloss black, a deep shine and just a touch of lining, makes any loco look good, even the Duff that they did in the '80s!
